Privacy policy

Information you provide

Scene stores your account name, email, securely hashed password, profile, viewing history, ratings, reviews, lists, preferences, social connections, comments and optional photos. We use this information to operate your account, sync your activity, personalize recommendations and provide the social features you choose to use.

Apple, Google, and passkeys

If you choose Apple or Google sign-in, we receive an account identifier and the name, email, and optional profile picture you authorize that provider to share. We use these only to create, authenticate, and connect your Scene account. Google sign-in does not request access to Gmail, Drive, contacts, or calendars. Passkeys are handled by your device and password manager; Scene stores a public key and never receives Face ID or Touch ID biometric data.

Visibility

New accounts start private. Your account and content visibility settings determine who can view what you share. Your email, private journal entries and AI conversations are not public. Blocking and reporting help you control your experience.

Service providers

Cloudflare hosts our API, media storage, email and AI services. Neon stores our database. TMDB supplies film and TV metadata; streaming availability is supplied through TMDB and JustWatch. Searches for titles may be sent to TMDB. We do not send your private reviews to TMDB. Trailer links open YouTube, whose privacy policy applies when you open it.

Optional AI and voice

Before using Scene AI, you are asked to consent to sending messages and relevant viewing data, including private review excerpts, to Cloudflare for processing. Conversations and saved preferences are stored in your account. You can delete conversations and edit or remove saved memories. Automatic memory saving can be disabled. Voice transcription separately asks for consent; audio is sent to Cloudflare Whisper and is not retained by Scene. You review the transcript before sending a message.

Security and diagnostics

We use sessions, request limits and operational logs to secure the service and investigate failures. Requests may include technical information such as IP address and client information. TestFlight feedback and crash reports are handled by Apple and may be shared with us. We do not sell your personal information or use third-party advertising trackers.

Your choices and deletion

Account settings let you export your data, change privacy settings, revoke sessions and delete your account. Deletion removes account content and associated uploaded media from the active service. Infrastructure backups and limited security records may persist until their retention periods expire. Contact us for access or deletion questions, including any rights applicable in your location.

Updates

We will update this policy as the service changes. Material changes will be communicated through the app or your account email where appropriate.
